Getting Your Cardio In Without a Gym Membership

You don’t have to have a gym membership to get your cardio workout in. In this post, I talk about 6 ways you can get your cardio in but honestly, the only limitations would be your imagination.

Having a gym membership can be nice but it isn’t for everyone. Gym memberships cost money and many of us do not have the time to go to the gym regularly. If you are looking to get your cardio workout in every day, you don’t need expensive equipment or a gym membership. With the following exercises, you can do all of your cardio at home with motivation and a simple pair of sneakers.

Jogging in Place

Starting simple, jogging in place is one of the best cardio exercises you can do. It can be done anywhere and at any time. You can even do it in front of the TV while you watch the news or your favorite TV shows.

One tip that can help to increase the calorie burn is to pump your arms as you run in place. You could also consider trying different variations like marching in place. The different variations will allow you to mix things up to keep your workout fresh.

Skip Rope

Jumping rope is another one of the top cardio workouts you can do. A jump rope is a cheap piece of fitness equipment, and you can burn a lot of calories with a short workout. Even if you don’t have the rope handy, you can still do the same motions without the rope to get your daily cardio workout. It might look a little silly, but it will still be an effective workout that offers a lot of benefits.

Squat Jumps

With jump squats, you not only have a good cardio exercise, you also have a workout that will strengthen your legs. It’s as simple as standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and dropping down into a squat position. From the squat, jump up off the ground while bringing your hands from your sides to above your head. Once you land, drop back down in the squat and repeat the exercise. If you are new to this exercise you can easily modify this by not going down quite so low into your squat.

Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks are a classic exercise most people know how to do. The reason people still do them is because they provide an effective cardio workout and they don’t require expensive equipment or a lot of skill. If you want to get more of a workout, you could also look for jumping jack variations that work different parts of the body. Variations like cross jacks, step jacks, and squat jacks require no additional equipment, and they can add some variety to your workout.

Mountain Climbers

Adding mountain climbers to your home cardio routine will offer a lot of benefits. In addition to getting your heart pumping and burning calories, mountain climbers will work out a range of different muscle groups in the body. This is another workout that can be done anywhere, and since it is a full-body workout, it can do a lot to transform your body.

Lunges

Just like mountain climbers, lunges are a cardio exercise that does more than get the heart rate up. Along with burning calories, lunges are one of the best exercises for strengthening and toning your legs. Beyond the standard lunge, you also have a range of lunge exercises that can work different parts of the body and add variety to your workout.

To conclude…

Starting a cardio workout routine can be one of the best decisions you will ever make. If you don’t have the time or money for the gym, the exercises mentioned here can give you all of the work out you need from the convenience of your home.

For variety, you can change up the duration and the order you do each of these exercises. You can do them all or choose two or three and keep rotating through them for a quick and intense cardio workout that you can do anywhere.
